Why I Practice Law: A Personal Journey

I founded The Potash Law Firm with a deep commitment to justice and an unwavering belief in the ability of the law to create meaningful change. Practicing law is not just a profession for me; it’s a calling - guided by the principle of “Justice. Justice shall you pursue.” It is a daily reminder that the role of an attorney is to advocate fiercely for those in need, fight abuses of power, and champion equity in my community.

The drive to make a difference is what attracted me to the law. I began my career as a copywriter, developing my communication and storytelling skills, but felt a strong pull to do more - which led me to the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. I was honored to join the inaugural class of the Louisville Bar Foundation’s Greenebaum Human Rights Fellowship and pursue a career dedicated to empowering the underdog.
After graduating from Brandeis, I had the opportunity to be a public defender for Jefferson County and work with people who felt the law was stacked against them. Those years taught me the importance of relentless advocacy and gave me the tenacity my clients now describe as a “bulldog-chihuahua mix.” Whether I’m litigating a high-profile civil rights case or helping a small business navigate legal challenges, I bring that same energy and determination to every case.
At The Potash Law Firm, I focus on four key areas: civil rights, business law, personal injury, and property damage. These diverse practice areas allow me to tackle injustices on multiple fronts. Whether I’m helping a client recover after police misconduct, safeguarding a business owner’s rights, or seeking compensation for someone injured by negligence, my goal is always the same: to deliver justice and ensure my clients feel heard, respected, and supported.
While I may look more like “Starsky and Hutch” than “Matlock,” don’t let my quirky vibe and personality fool you - I am driven to tirelessly explore any avenue that may lead to my client’s success. Everyone deserves an equal voice under the law, and I look forward to helping my clients use theirs.
We live in polarized times, and the law is a common weapon between disparate viewpoints. I hope to use this blog as an extension of my mission, a place to share insights, updates, and resources that will help you navigate legal challenges and understand your rights in a frequently changing legal landscape.
The law can be intimidating, and I welcome the opportunity to bring light to the darkness - one client and one case at a time.
